NewPort Architecture LLC was pleased to be a part of the recent Doris Duke Historic Preservation Awards. This program recognizes individuals and organizations that stay true to the principles of preservation. The money raised from the event supports local non-profits’ efforts in historic preservation.
The reconstruction of the porte-cochre at “Seaweed,” removed by the hurricane of 1938, is the crowning piece of work to reinvigorate Horace Trumbauer’s vision for this house. It is rare that a new owner returns a character-defining element to a building, and with NPA’s meticulous research and detailed drawings it became a reality.
